Successful Completion of Transnational Peer Review Webinar and Training Part II for VET Providers

On November 22, 2024, an online training session titled "Transnational Peer Review at VET Providers Level - Training Part II" was successfully conducted as part of the Erasmus+ EQAVET NRPs joint activity. The event, organized by the National Reference Points (NRPs) from Croatia, Estonia, Finland, and Slovenia, aimed to enhance the quality assurance processes in vocational education and training (VET) institutions.

  • The session started with a warm welcome and opening remarks, setting a positive tone for collaboration among the attendees.
  • The first segment of the training provided crucial information about the transnational peer review initiative under the Erasmus+ EQAVET NRPs project. This segment highlighted the objectives and benefits of the initiative for VET providers and peers. This way it was ensured that all participants, which will undergo the peer review process, were well-informed about the project's scope and significance.
  • Following this, each VET provider offered insights into the specific quality assurance measures of their institution. This presentation served also to share reasons and expectations of joining the activity of the peer review. Each VET provider prepared a short 5-minute presentation about their institution and explained why they chose their specific Quality Area to be reviewed by international peers.
  • After a short break, the training resumed with an in-depth session led by an expert from the Keuda Group which has invaluable experience in peer reviews. This segment, titled "Peer Review Method Training Part II" included a recap of the Training Part I which focused on the 'Why' and 'How' of peer review. This second part provided practical examples including the Self-Evaluation Report (SER), peer visit and the final report, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of the peer review process. The training also covered detailed activities before and after the peer visit, such as:
    • Writing the self-assessment report
    • Preparing for interviews (questions and structuring the conversation)
    • Providing initial oral feedback
    • Writing the final report
  • The event concluded with a summary and wrap-up session, leaving participants with a clear understanding of the day's key takeaways and the next steps in the transnational peer review process.

Following the training a feedback survey was given to the attendees and the event was rated as a resounding success. VET providers were equipped with the knowledge and tools needed to effectively conduct peer reviews, both as hosts and peers. NRPs from Croatia, Estonia, Finland, and Slovenia believe the event's success is a step in the right way for future expansion of the peer review method to other European countries.
